We had noticed this place on earlier drives through Salt Lake City where we stop for gas at Costco. There was a short line. I wanted a custard filled donut which they were out of. The gal offered to fill a long donut for me. Great customer service there. There was about à 10 minute wait for the apple fritter that my husband wanted. We also ordered the apple filled bear claw--one glazed and one with cinnamon sugar. The apple fritter was HUGE-perfectly cooked with plenty of apples. My custard filled was also yummy. The bear claws we ate got dessert in our hotel.
I've been wanting to try these donuts for a while, and it didn't disappoint. Husband and wife team were hospitable. The shop is a bit dated, but it's well kept and clean. I was in at 5 AM when they first opened ....unfortunately not all the donuts were ready. the ones that I've got were amazing. I could definitely taste the well aged dough and pungent yeast, which gave it a complex taste. The crumble topping, sugar and strawberry glaze were on point. I'm not a fan of cake donuts, but these were good... much creamer texture than the others I've had. Overall, words on the street is absolutely true. These are delicious donuts.
Donuts so good we ate them ALL before I could take a photo. This place has a line for a reason -- they really are freshly fried and ready to be eaten. The parking is limited but it's worth walking from around the corner. The staff is very friendly and always hard at work. I think their apple fritters are the best in town but apparently so does everyone else because the last two times I've gone they were all out. People love this place for a reason -- if you haven't already, go find out for yourself.
I've been known to say "the only donut that tempts me in the cinnamon crumb, from *a local establishment." Until I found Fresh Deli. All of their donuts are great, even a simple glaze is a blessing from above. They have lines out the door for a reason, but are quick and always kind. My favorite out the blueberry glaze, but you can't go wrong.
We're a family of 4 and ordered a half dozen donuts. Fresh donuts are the best, and if you don't eat them all these will hold. Depending on day and time of day, expect a line. The movement of the line does depend on what people are ordering - a dozen, half dozen, a couple dozen, or just one. But at the counter one person will work with your party to package your donuts. If you don't see what you want, ask as they could be making them in the back! Then cashier will ring up your order and you're good to go. There are two tables to sit at be the line will move around you. Most everyone on our day was grab and go.
